From Bugs to Drugs
The Manchester Pharmacy School at the University of Manchester will be hosting a family-orientated Open Day entitled "From Bugs to Drugs" on Saturday the 29th November at University Place, 11-3pm. Entrance is free. The idea behind the event is for the Manchester Pharmacy School, in conjunction with Gilead Sciences, to demonstrate the science behind the various stages involved in making medicines through a range of fun, hands-on and informative activities. Set against a public health theme, visitors will be invited to journey through the different stages of the drug development process as we look to find a cure for a new and highly infectious (and of course fictitious!) microorganism that turns human beings into zombies if infected. In addition to staff from MPS and Gilead Sciences, the event will also involve active contributions from local schools, a local drama artist and the neighbouring community. In other words, an event by the community, for the community.
